LAHORE, April 23: Pakistan Army, with 209 points, and Wapda, with 195 points, retained their title in the men and women’s section of the 40th National athletics championship as the games drew to a close under floodlights here at the Punjab Stadium on Wednesday.

Army grabbed 16 gold, 12 silver and six bronze medals to maintain their supremacy in the men’s section. Wapda with 120 points, became the runners-up while the PAF (47) finished third.

In the women’s section, Wapda upheld their domination with 15 gold, seven silver and 10 bronze medals. Failing to give Wapda a close fight, Pakistan Steel Mills came second with 67 points (four gold, six silver and two bronze medals).

Eighteen more finals in both men and women categories were decided on the final day.
