QUETTA, April 26: Baloch-istan Governor Nawab Zulfiqar Ali Magsi has appointed Prof Dr Masoom Khan Yasinzai of the Biochemistry department as the acting vice-chancellor of the Balochistan University for one month.

Dr Yasinzai, who had been working as the Dean of research, took charge of his new post on Saturday.

Meanwhile, a reference was held in the university for Dr Safdar Kiyani who was murdered on April 22 near his house on the Sariab road. Acting vice-chancellor Dr Yasinzai lauded the services of Dr Kiyani during his 30-year association with the university.

The president of the Academic Staff Association, Kaleemullah Barach, paid homage to the late professor.
