HYDERABAD, April 27: The chief of Jamaat-i-Islami Sindh chapter, Maulana Asadullah Bhutto, has said that the party has launched a campaign against materialism from April 27 to May 4 to spread the massage of Islam.

He was speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Sunday.

The Maulana said that in this materialistic age it had become more important that people should revert tow spiritualism.

He said that the Jamaat-i-Islami had decided to launch this campaign throughout the country to motivate people to read the Holy Book and follow the teachings of the Holy Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him).

Mr Bhutto was highly critical of TV channels which, he said, were airing immoral programmes. He regretted that Pakistan was created in the name of Islam but its golden principles were being forgotten.

He called upon the government to protect Islamic values by banning what he called obscene programmes on TV channels.

He called upon the government to withdraw their ambassadors from Denmark and Holland for publishing blasphemous material and making an anti-Islam film.

Maulana Bhutto pointed out that even in European countries defamatory laws existed but wondered why these laws were not being used against those who were publishing blasphemous material and making objectionable films.

He urged the government to expel the ambassadors of Denmark and Holland.
