Pakistan Jrs thrash Singapore

KARACHI, April 30: Pakistan juniors touring India on Wednesday took a flying start when they swept past Singapore 3-0 in the Juniors Davis Cup being played at New Delhi’s R.K. Khanna stadium.

The three-member Pakistan team comprised Heera Ashiq, Faizan Khurram and Samir Iftikhar. The latter two are grandsons of Khawaja Iftikhar, former India No 1 before partition.

Pakistan is now drawn to meet Hong Kong in the playoffs for the top 16 rankings.

Results:

Faizan Khurram bt Ching Wel Justin 6-2, 6-1; Heera Ashiq bt Hanefelix Wee 6-1, 6-2; Heera Ashiq - Samir Iftikhar bt Ching Wel Justin - Hanefelix Wee 6-1, 6-2.
