HYDERABAD, May 2: The University of Sindh has finalised arrangements to conduct the examinations of first semester and special examinations of students from May 8.

In this connection, a meeting of officials concerned, including those of police department and Rangers, was held here on Friday.

The meeting discussed security arrangements for the semester examinations at the Allama I.I.Kazi Campus, Jamshoro. It also took decision for the deployment of police and Rangers at various points on the campus, including hostels, entry points of campus and joint patrolling by police and Rangers.

The meeting was informed that semester examinations will be conducted at 37 examination centres while 24,000 boys and girl students i.e. 20,000 regular and 4,000 students will appear in special examinations.

It was also informed that semester examination will start at 9am for morning and at 2pm for evening shifts while on Friday evening examination would start at 2.30pm.

The university’s examinations department has issued admit cards to the candidates through their teaching institutes and departments as informed by the officials of the examinations department adding that without admit card no candidate would be allowed to appear in exam.

The meeting in connection with security measures decided that no outsider would be allowed on the campus during the timings of the examinations. Senior faculty members from each institute and department would check the admit cards of students at main entry point of the centres.

The meeting also chalked out a plan regarding student buses that would ply from different spots in the city and schedule of the teaching and employees buses.

The meeting was attended by provost hostels Dr Mohammad Siddique Kalhoro, Incharge transport Prof Agha Riaz Hassan, additional controller of examinations (semester) Mohammad Nawaz Narejo, Incharge Rangers on the campus Major Wajahat, Kotri DSP Abdul Majeed Rind, additional registrar Mushtaq Ali Qureshi and SHO of Jamshoro and other officials.

VC VISIT: University of Sindh Vice-Chancellor Mazharul Haq Siddiqui is proceeding to Canada on Saturday to participate in a meeting of executives of university to be held there from May 5 to 16, under a project of capacity building of executives of university.

During his absence pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr Rafia Ahmed Shaikh will be the acting vice-chancellor.
