ISLAMABAD, May 2: The Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) has decided to set up more educational institutions to promote the quality of education for the children of expatriates.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the OPF Board of Governors recently held here under the chairmanship of Minister for Labour, Manpower and Overseas Pakistanis Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah, an official told APP here on Friday.

The official said the meeting discussed various matters relating to the OPF educational institutes.

He said the meeting decided to set up eight public schools and one medical college in the country. According to the official, the foundation would set up public schools at Gwadar, Jacobabad, Nawabshah, Sukkur, Nowshera, Lahore, Attock and Mirpur (Azad Kashmir).

The medical college will also be established at Mirpur, he added.

Replying to a question, he said: “The OPF has been making efforts to provide maximum educational facilities and friendly environment to children for their best grooming.”

He said positive measures were being adopted to run OPF educational institutions on professional lines to meet the needs of the time, adding that these steps would bring better results in future.

AIOU COMPUTER LAB: Internet has enabled the students to access modern knowledge available at the world renowned universities and libraries, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice-Chancellor Prof (Dr) Mehmoodul Hassan Butt said.

The vice-chancellor was speaking at the inauguration of a computer laboratory in the AIOU research complex.
