DUBAI, May 9: China has won the bid to stage the 25th edition of the Asian Snooker Championship at the meeting of the Asian Confederation of Billiards Sports (ACBS), held at the Dubai Police Club on Thursday evening.

“Yes, China has been allocated the next event of Asian Snooker,” ACBS secretary Syed Mehboob told APP on Friday, adding that Chinese Billiards and Snooker Association will confirm the venue and dates of the competition in the next few months.

He said India will host next year’s Asian Under-21 Snooker Championship after Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI) entered their bid.

Meanwhile Sindhu Pulsirivong, president of ACBS, told the meeting that there will be a hectic cue of sports activity in the continent between October-December 2009.

The series of events are said to include Sea Games in Laos, Asian Indoor Games in Vietnam and East Asian Games in Hong Kong.

Pakistan will be taking part in various Indoor Asian Games events in Vietnam, which also includes Snooker. —APP
