GUJRANWALA, Oct 23: The Punjab Revenue Department has included six villages of Naushera Virkan tehsil in Gujranwala tehsil limits and issued a notification on Tuesday.

The decision has however been opposed by the Naushera Virkan tehsil council.

At a meeting on Tuesday, the council adopted a resolution, asking the revenue department to withdraw the notification.

It said Tetley, Kotli Ardoza, Jehan Shah, Bhadey, Kotli Malhar and Tung Kalan Khurd were part of Naushera Virkan.

REJECTED: The bail application of five rapists was rejected by an additional district and sessions judge here on Tuesday.

Ijaz, Fahad, Shahid, Iftikhar and Shafiq allegedly raped a woman ‘S’ in Ferozewala some few days ago. They got interim bail from a court of law when police booked them.

They were arrested by police after bail cancellation.

THREE DIE: Three people were killed while 17 others injured when a speeding wagon rammed into a roadside tree on Sheikhupura Road on Tuesday.

The wagon also killed a cow and two buffaloes before hitting the tree.

According to details, a wagon (GTC 4575) was going to Gujranwala from Sheikhupura. The driver lost control over the steering near Maju Chak Tetley village and the wagon rammed into a roadside tree after hitting three animals.

Muhammad Abbas, Saleh Bibi and Saman Bibi died on the spot while 17 others were injured. The condition of the injured was stated to be critical at the civil hospital.

Some passengers alleged that the driver was overtaking another wagon when he lost control over the steering.

Police registered the case against driver Muhammad Shafi.

In another accident, two cyclists were injured on Naushera Virkan Road.

Muhammad Anwar and his son Muhammad Akmal were going on a bicycle when a speeding car hit and injured them. They were admitted to Naushera Virkan civil hospital where their condition was stated to be out of danger.

Police registered the case against car driver Muhammad Munir.
