NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, May 14: A group of highwaymen took away a trailer loaded with DAP fertiliser at Jam Noorullah stop on the National Highway near Kandiaro on Tuesday.

A trailer carrying 1,400 DAP fertiliser bags was on its way to Lahore from Karachi, which was intercepted by armed men near Jam Noorullah stop on the National Highway who deprived the driver of Rs95,000 and also drove away the vehicle loaded with 1,400 bags of DAP fertilisers.

The driver of the trailer, Yousuf Iqbal Jatt and the cleaner Aijaz Kalo, managed to reach Kandiaro police station and complained that 15 armed men travelling in a truck intercepted them.

The driver said that after tying him and the cleaner with ropes the bandits threw them in the banana field and took away the trailer and DAP bags. He said people saw them on Tuesday morning and untied our ropes.

The WHC of Kandiaro police station said that police were investigating into the matter and no FIR had been lodged till the filing of this report.

People belonging to Soomro tribe backed by PPP-SB workers staged a demonstration opposite the press club. Carrying banners and placards, they complained that sometime ago he and his neighbours Zaheer Soomro and Azam Soomro exchanged hot words over a petty matter on which his rivals, in collusion with Kandiaro police, registered cases against him and his family members.

He alleged that police were deputed outside his house and their children could not appear in their examinations due to harassment.

He alleged that RPO Sukkur was supporting his opponents due to pressure of MPA Abdul Wahid Soomro.

He further alleged that despite court orders, the police were not ready to lodge FIR against the accused who attacked us. He appealed to Sindh chief minister and IG Police to intervene and protect him and his family from false cases.

When contacted, the Kandiaro police WHC Niaz Hussain Tanwri, maintained that the dispute between the two groups arose over keeping girders by the Azizullah party in the street. Regarding police refusal to lodge the FIR despite court orders, he said that FIR would be lodged when the Azizullah party contact the police.
