SUKKUR, May 18: Federal Minister for Manpower, Labour, Overseas Pakistanis and Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah has said that concrete measures would be taken to maintain law and order in Sukkur city and to provide security to lives and property of people and traders.

The federal minister was talking to a delegation of traders here on Sunday.

Mr Memon apprised the minister about the poor law and order situation in the city. He informed the minister that around 17 incidents of theft, dacoity, kidnapping and street crimes had occurred in the city over the past three months while neither any criminal had been arrested nor the looted goods were recovered.

Mr Memon said that police had failed to recover a trader of Sarrafa Bazaar, Mohammad Akram Awan, who was kidnapped by dacoits two months ago and added that last week two goldsmiths were deprived of gold ornaments worth Rs5.5 millions in armed robberies but no arrest or recovery had been made.

Because of rising incidents of lawlessness in the city, people and especially traders were feeling themselves insecure while these incidents were having negative effect on business activities thus causing monetary losses to traders, he said.—BoC
