LAHORE, May 18: Citizen activists held their weekly protest for the restoration of deposed judges outside Governor's House here on Sunday.

Around 120 representatives of the Concerned Citizens for Pakistan (CCP), the Student Action Committee (SAC) and the Women's Action Forum (WAF) distributed flyers to passers-by and asked the public to honk their horns as they drove by to show their solidarity.

They raised slogans such as "Adlia ki azadi tak jang rahe gi" and "Go Musharraf, Go", as well as slogans against Pakistan People's Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari.

Tariq Zaman of the CCP said: "We are here to show our unconditional support for the lawyer's movement and applaud the sacrifices they have made." He said that a smear campaign had been launched against lawyers to undermine their efforts but that the people would not be fooled or deterred.

Others present included Justice (retd) Nasira Iqbal, Khawar Mumtaz, Nasreen Shah and Lala Rukh from the WAF. A protestor told Dawn that the CCP would try to widen the participation of the protests with more students and civil society groups.
