LARAKNA, April 30: The polling stations of different areas of of the district wore a deserted look due to the indifferent attitude of the people.

In Naudero town, the home constituency of PPP chairperson Benazir Bhutto, the activists of Mumtaz Bhutto’s Sindh National Front were asking the people

to vote in favour of Gen Musharraf.

Some irrelevant persons were seen almost at every polling station with bundles of blank ‘Tasdeeq Namas’ (confirmation certificates), signed by the area Nazim or Naib Nazim and in some cases by the DSP of the area.

Those visiting the booth without identity cards were being provided with the blank certificate to be filled in by him to cast the vote.

A PPP leader and resident of Aliabad village, Shafqat Hussain Unnar, alleged that people, regardless of their area, were being paraded on the vehicles by the Pakistan Muslim League (Q) leaders and wherever they found polling booths, they stopped and made the people to cast their vote.
