Rain halts Strasbourg final

STRASBOURG (France), May 24: Heavy rain on Saturday brought a halt to the final of the women’s Strasbourg International here with Slovenian fifth seed Katarina Srebotnik leading Spanish holder and sixth seed Anabel Medina Garrigues 6-4, 1-1, 40-30.

On Friday, Srebotnik lost a tiebreak 10-8 but went on to beat Chan Yung-Jan of Taiwan 6-1, 6-7, 6-4 and reach the final.

In the other semi-final, Medina beat Timea Bacsinszky of Switzerland 6-3, 6-3.
