LAHORE, May 26: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Pakistan (JUP) has demanded that the PPP government should fulfill its promises by ousting Pervez Musharraf from presidency and severing all its ties with “terrorist” outfit, MQM.

A statement issued here on Monday said the demand was made at a Khatme Nabuwat convention organised by the JUP here.

It has also demanded that both the major coalition partners, the PPP and the PML-N, should cement their alliance for ridding the masses of the price hike.

If the demands were not fulfilled, it warned, then democracy would suffer badly and only the PPP was to be blamed for it.

Condemning the Nov 3, 2007 emergency, it announced support for the cause of the legal fraternity for independence of the judiciary and the ouster of Musharraf.

The moot appealed to all Muslims to shun their personal political differences for countering conspiracies being allegedly hatched by Ahmadis against the ideological basis of the country.

It opposed appointment of Ahmadis at key positions because the group had not accepted the Constitution yet. —Staff Reporter
