KHAIRPUR, May 27: A large number of people staged a demonstration in Pakka Chang town of Faiz Ganj taluka on Tuesday to protest against price hike, particularly those of flour, rice, milk and cooking oil.

Talking to journalists, the protesters said that new wheat produce had been brought in the market but wheat flour was still being sold for Rs25 to 26 per kilogramme.

They said that the prices of daily use items had been increased up to a level that if someone buys rice, they would be unable to buy flour, and if they bought flour they would be unable to buy cooking oil or anything else.

They said that due to the rocketing price hike daily wage earners had suffered a lot.

They claimed that prices of some essential daily use items had been increased artificially but none of the officials concerned were ready to take any action. water shortage: The tail-end farmers of Faiz Ganj, Ali Nawaz, Veeho, Pandhro Wahs and minor canals originating from there have complained that there is no water at tail-ends of these canals.

A delegation of farmers told journalists on Tuesday that the crops of tail-end growers of Bango Behan, Kot Laloo and Razabad union councils were being destroyed due to the shortage of irrigation water.

They alleged that irrigation officials were providing water to farmers at upper stretch of the canals.—Correspondent
