Thieves shoot woman

MUZAFFARGARH, May 29: Thieves shot dead a woman when she raised the alarm about their presence in her house on Wednesday night here at Nabi Bakhsh Colony. Area people caught one thief and handed him over to police while two of his accomplices fled from the spot.

Three thieves broke into the house of Shafquat Bukhari at Nabi Bakhsh Colony at 4:30am and were busy collecting households. Meanwhile, Kahlida, wife of Shafquat, woke up because of power breakdown and raised the alarm when she saw the three intruders in the house. The dacoits shot in her head leaving her dead. The area people, who were also awaken because of laodshedding, when heard the gunshot, they rushed to the house of Shafquat and besieged it. Two outlaws escaped taking benefit of darkness but one dacoit who was identified as Yar Muhammad was held by the local and handed over to police. The marriage of Khalida to Shafquat took place just five months ago.

The City police station house officer said arrested Yar Muhammad was wanted in heinous crimes. Police registered a case and started investigation. Khalida was daughter of famous doctor Amir Bukhsh, medical officer with Nishtar Hospital in Multan.
