SIALKOT, June 3: A Gohdpur’s iron factory owner allegedly tortured to death his young labourer whose only sin was demanding his wages on Tuesday.
Reports said Imran, 19, asked for his wages from iron factory owner Muhammad Rafiq who refused to pay him. As the young labourer insisted on getting his dues of the day, Rafiq allegedly lost temper and thrashed the lad. He also hit an iron road on Imran’s head as a result of which he died.
Hundreds of heirs of the deceased, later, demonstrated against the killing. Among the protesters were labourers who blocked the Gohdpur-Kashmir Road to traffic for about half an hour, demanding registration of a murder case against the culprit.
The police instituted a case against Rafiq. Labour unions and organisations expressed grave concern over the incident.
ANOTHER KILLING: Scores of relatives of Haji Taj
Mehr, a transporter who was slain, took to the street (Daska Chowk) to register protest against the murder and alleged slackness of the Daska city police.
The protesters placed the body on the Daska-Sialkot Road and threw traffic out of gear for 45 minutes.
They said the Daska city police were timely informed about firing by the culprits who shot dead the transporter, but they reached the spot at least two hours late.
Haji Taj Mehr, the president of Trucks Goods Transport Association, Daska, who was gunned down in the city by unknown people, was laid to rest at Sohawa graveyard.
The Daska police registered a case.
In another incident, a landlord, Niyamat Ali, shot dead his daughter over suspicion of her ‘loose morals’.
