MARDAN, June 4: Police claimed to have arrested three kidnappers and released two kidnapped persons from their captivity in Shergarh area of the district.

According to a press release issued by District Police Officer Mohammad Tahir here on Wednesday, two persons identified as Khalid Khan and Roz Gul were abducted by three kidnappers near Shergarh.

Quoting the kidnapped persons, the release said that abductors were demanding Rs1 million for their release. Upon getting information a police party was constituted which raided the house where the kidnapped persons were kept. The released added that police released the kidnapped persons and arrested three abductors identified as Faqir Gul, Muhsin and Gul Nafeesa Begum of Shah Sahib Dherey.

Police also recovered a Kalashnikov, a pistol, mobile set and cartridges from the possession of the abductors. The release said that efforts were under way to arrest other members of the gang and further revelations of crimes were expected from the arrested culprits.
