KHAIRPUR, June 8: A meeting of the Sukkur chapter of the People’s Lawyers Forum here on Saturday said that the long march of lawyers was an attempt to weaken the country.

The meeting noted that a constitutional way was available to take the country out of the judicial crisis and a constitutional committee had been constituted which was working to resolve the judges’ issue through the National Assembly.

The meeting urged the lawyers’ fraternity to wait for a constitutional solution of the judges’ issue and extend support to the constitutional committee.

The meeting alleged that some pro-dictatorship forces were hatching conspiracies against the democratic forces.

The meeting was attended Naushahro Feroze, Nawabshah, Ghotki and Sukkur district presidents of the lawyers’ organisation affiliated with the ruling Pakistan People’s Party.

WATER: A large number of tail-end farmers of Daraza Minor canal took out a procession in Sobhodero on Sunday to protest against non-availability of water in the canal.

The protesters staged a demonstration on Sobhodero-Daraza road which led to suspension of vehicular traffic.

They alleged that the irrigation officials were selling water share of the tail-end farmers to influential farmers at the upper stretch of the canal due to which the tail-end growers were deprived of water.
