HYDERABAD, June 10: A group of villagers staged a protest demonstration outside the press club here on Tuesday to protest their likely eviction from their village located on the Sindh government’s Communication and Works Department’s land.

The protest was organised by Naujwan Sindh Samaji Sangat led by Wajid Leghari. According to him the villagers were living on five acres of land for 45 years and the land is owned by the Sindh government’s Communication and Works Department.

He said the department had no objection but suddenly a man, Shahid Ahmed, who claimed to be an official of some foreign company, said that the land belonged to their company.

He said that the man had been threatening villagers with eviction.
