FAISALABAD, June 11: The Pakistan Dairy Development Company (PDDC) and University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) have inked a memorandum of understanding to contribute to the dairy and livestock development in Pakistan, and to seek funding as a joint venture for development of a large scale dairy farm demonstration at the university.
The signing ceremony was held at National Institute of Food Sciences and Technology. UAF vice-chancellor Dr Iqrar Ahmad and Geoff Walker, CEO Pakistan Dairy Development Company, signed the understanding.
The PDDC will identify research topics, experimental sites throughout Pakistan, and graduate students to be associated with the work from the concerned faculties, and the students will complete studies on the selected topics under guidance from UAF faculty members and PDDC experts.
PDDC will meet the agreed expenses of direct inputs such as seeds, fertilisers, chemicals and concentrates, and pay reasonable travel and lodging allowance for the scientists/students involved in the studies. In response, UAF will provide basic infrastructure wherever possible, such as farms, livestock, laboratories and academic expertise.
The ceremony was attended by Prof Dr Faqir Mohammad Anjum, Dr Farhat Jameel, Ch Mohammad Hussain, Abdul Ghafoor Khan, Prof Dr Mohammad Ashraf, Prof Dr. Iftikhar Ahmad Khan and faculty members of the institute.
