SANGHAR, June 21: Hund-reds of villagers belonging to Shar community staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Saturday and blocked Sanghar-Mirpurkhas road for three hours by placing the body on the road in protest against murder of their relative.

They burnt tyres and raised slogans demanding arrest of the accused.

The protesters told journalists that they had lodged an FIR against Shahid, Waseem and Kako Nizamani after their relative Himmat Ali Shar, 55, a peasant, had gone missing for about 20 days but police did not take any action against the accused.

They said that on Saturday they found Himmat’s body near Khewari on Nara canal and it bore signs suggesting that he had been tortured to death.

They alleged that Sanghar police were involved in the murder and complained that DPO Dr Waliullah Dal was always busy holding open courts while law and order situation was getting worse day by day. Later, the protesters ended road block after DSP Akhtar Qureshi held negotiations with them.

DROWNED: One Ganga Bheel drowned in Nara Canal near Bheel Bhaiti, Khipro on Saturday.

She was washing clothes on the bank of the canal when she slipped into deep waters and drowned. Her body was fished out by the villagers.

Qaim Ali Shah, 10, drowned in Samarji Wah near Perumal. He was taking bath in the canal when he drowned. His body was fished out and handed over to his relatives.
