HYDERABAD, June 21: Pro-posal to form the South Asian Union is a conspiracy against Sindh as it would open floodgate for outsiders to enter into the province and turn locals into minority like Palestinians and Fijians, apprehended the Jeay Sindh Mahaz Chairman Abdul Khaliq Junejo.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Saturday, he said before the creation of Pakistan, Sindhis, Balochs, Pakhtoons and Punjabis had individual identities but soon after, conspiracies were hatched against them which continue till date.
Attempts were continuously being made, sometimes in the name of Islam while at others for democracy, peace and brotherhood to demolish historical identity of these nations, said Junejo.
Now a new conspiracy, by raising the bogey of South Asian Union, had been shaped to fulfil their aim. He said the so-called human rights organisations in the name of peace had chalked out a plan to form this union.
He said groundwork was going on since long but now a meeting had been convened in Colombo, Sri Lanka from July 18 to 20 to finalize the proposal. The agenda was to declare these states visa, passport and border free which will give freedom to Pakistanis, Indians, Bangladeshis, Sri Lankans, Bhutanese, Nepalese, Maldivians, and Afghanis to settle in the country of their choice.
Fearing devastating affect of this proposal, Junejo exclaimed that it would wipe out the identity of Sindhi nation as the place was more vulnerable to influx of people.
He warned against putting into practice the proposal which would place people into the situation as was being faced by Palestinians and Fijians. He felt sorry for those intellectuals and the NGOs who were working in favour of the agenda. He said the JSM will thwart and resist, at all forums, the anti-Sindh conspiracy. He appealed to patriotic people to wake up and protect the Sindhi nation from extinction.
The JSM Chairman said Sindhis support political, cultural and economic relations, and peace among South Asian nations but will not sacrifice their national identity at any cost.
Answering a question, Junejo said the PILER, the SDF and some other NGOs were supporting the formation of South Asian Union.
