Diesel shortage in Bahawalpur

Published June 27, 2008

BAHAWALPUR, June 26: People are facing diesel and petrol shortage in urban and rural areas of the district for the last four days.

Some petrol pumps are selling petrol and diesel to people in limited quantity, while about 70 filling stations had stopped diesel supply to farmers for tube-wells and tractors.

The shortage has also hit the inter-city transport. Public transport owners say they have to cut the number of their vehicles plying inter-city routes if oil remains in short supply.

Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association representative Muhammad Yasin accused petroleum companies of short supply to fuel stations. He said the oil companies cut supplies “without any valid reason”. He said the prevailing situation would hit the agriculture sector. He asked the government to regulate diesel and petrol supply immediately.
