KHAIRPUR, June 28: An intermediate student and son of an influential trader of Thari Mirwah and his car driver were kidnapped late on Friday from taluka Thari Mirwah.

Their abandoned car has been found in the jurisdiction of Naudero police station.

Reports said that some armed men kidnapped Adnan Ali Bhambhan, son of Ghulam Murtaza Bhambhan, from Thari Mirwah-Mehrabpur road when he was going with his driver Mumtaz Ali Jogi from Mehrabpur railway station to his home in Thari Mirwah town.

After hearing the news of kidnapping, traders and businessmen of the area went on strike and pulled down shutters of their shops in Thari Mirwah town on Saturday.

Later, a large number of people came from Thari Mirwah to Sui gas chowk and staged a demonstration on Kumb-Nawabshah-Khairpur road for more than an hour.

Later, Khairpur police reached the spot and held negotiations with protesters and assured them of immediate release of the kidnapped people after which the protesters dispersed.
