Gepco to build two power plants

SIALKOT, July 2: The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (Gepco) will soon establish two power generation plants -one each in Sialkot and Gujranwala districts -to overcome power shortage, says a Gepco official.

Speaking at a seminar in Gepco Colony on Wednesday, Gepco Sialkot Superintending Engineer Arshad Mahmood Mirza said construction work had begun on a 150 megawatt power plant on MR Link Canal near Saahowala, Sambrial. The project would be completed before the end of December. A 450 megawatt power plant was being built at Nandipur, Gujranwala, and it would be completed within the next two years, he added.

HOUSE SET ON FIRE: The heirs to a slain man set fire to the house of his alleged killer in Langey village of Pasrur tehsil on Wednesday and destroyed valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

The heirs to Nadeem torched the house of Waheed, who allegedly shot dead Nadeem over a minor dispute in Sialkot city on Tuesday. The fire was later extinguished by fire brigade.

KILLED: A tractor-trolley driver was killed when an overloaded transport truck hit his vehicle near BRB Canal Bridge outside Daska city on Wednesday.

Aslam died at the scene.
