KARACHI, July 4: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Hussain has said the Taliban are trying to overrun Karachi and foment sectarian violence in the city.

“This is principally being done by bringing migrants from Pakistan’s tribal areas to the city,” Mr Hussain said while addressing various committees in Karachi on telephone from London on Friday, according to a press release.

“Under a planned and sustained conspiracy, migrants from tribal areas are being settled in Karachi under the patronage of a few powerful elements of the agencies which are organising illegal occupation of empty plots by dispersing these migrants in different areas of the city,” he said.
