Cantonment in Ormara opposed

Published July 6, 2008

QUETTA, July 5: National Party secretary-general Mir Hasil Bizenjo and senior leader Senator Dr Abdul Malik Baloch said on Saturday that the Baloch people would not allow the establishment of a cantonment in the Ormara tehsil.

In a joint statement issued here, the NP leaders alleged that the government decision to construct a cantonment in Ormara was aimed to deprive the local people of their land.

They said allotment of land to the army was an attempt to occupy the area and turn the Baloch majority into a minority in their own homeland.

They alleged that the rulers were pursuing anti-Baloch policy and trying to occupy coast and resources of the province.
