SUKKUR, July 6: Crime rate in Sukkur and Ghotki district has increased especially since the induction of the coalition government in March.
Criminal activities have increased manifold and during the first 100 days of the present government, over 88 persons, including women, lost their lives in different incidents including enmity, tribal clashes and karo-kari.
According to sources, besides 88 cases of murder, 150 incidents of attempted murder also took place during the first 100 days of the government. According to statistics, 55 cases of kidnapping for ransom, four highway robberies, one petrol pump robbery, 130 cases of other dacoities, 60 incidents of street crimes, 23 car theft, nine cases of car snatching, 36 motorcycle theft, 55 cases of motorcycle snatching, 262 cases of arms ordinance and others were reported during the first 100 days of the government.
According to a survey, people cited rising inflation, unemployment and poverty as reasons behind increase in crime rate.
