Jirga sets woman’s price

DERA GHAZI KHAN, July 7: Border Military Police (BMP) registered a case against 12 people for ordering selling of a woman to ‘punish her for adultery’.

Dawn learnt Kalu Buzdar approached the local jury, seeking ‘punishment’ for his wife (G) for her ‘illicit activities’. The jury decided to sell the woman to Mamdan Buzdar against Rs160,000. Mother of the victim Zeenat Bibi approached the BMP and sought protection of her daughter. The police registered a case against the husband, the procurer and 10 members of the jury and were after the accused. — Correspondent
