QUETTA, July 9: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has said that his party will continue its struggle for enforcement of Islamic laws and will never compromise on principles.

Addressing a large ‘Shariat Conference’ gathering here on Wednesday, he said the US administration had launched a propaganda campaign against religious parties and was dubbing them extremists because Islamic system was a threat to its policy of global exploitation.

He urged members of the party to maintain unity in their ranks.

A resolution adopted at the conference urged the government to follow a foreign policy independent of US influence and reflecting the aspirations of the people. It urged the government to take religious and political parties into confidence on foreign policy issues.

It called for an end to US and Nato intervention in the tribal areas. The conference urged the government to implement the agreement made with the JUI as a coalition partner.

Expressing concern over the situation created by military actions in the tribal areas and Balochistan, it said the government should stop violence and initiate dialogue to resolve the issues. It opposed the move to commute the death sentence of prisoners to life imprisonment.

It condemned the increase in prices of petroleum products, gas, electricity and foodstuff and urged the government to come up with relief measures for the people.
