‘Operation to continue’

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani has said that the operation in tribal areas would continue in order to flush out foreign elements and prevent 9/11-like attacks.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, Mr Gilani said there were Chechens, Uzbeks and other foreign militants in the tribal areas, which also worried the US. He said it was necessary to take action now in order to pre-empt a 9/11-like devastation.

The prime minister’s comments came amid reports that the US was building up troop deployments in areas near the Afghan border.
