KARACHI, July 18: A worker of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement was shot dead by unknown assailants in Landhi on Friday night.

Landhi SP Pervez Umrani said that a 35-year-old MQM worker, identified as Azeem, was passing through Sector 36-B when unidentified persons on a motorcycle sprayed him with bullets and escaped.

The victim suffered straight fire and died before he could be shifted to a hospital. The body was later taken to the JPMC for legal formalities. Some workers and office-bearers of the party also reached the hospital, hospital sources said. Tension gripped the area following the incident.

A duty officer of the Korangi Industrial Area police station said the police were waiting for the victim’s heirs or friends to lodge an FIR.

Meanwhile, the decomposed body of an unidentified middle-aged woman was found from a deserted place in Korangi on Friday. Police said they found the body from bushes in Sector 51-C of Korangi and shifted it to the JPMC for a post-mortem examination.
