LAHORE, July 19: Three-year-old filly Secret Memories, who has a facile victory to her credit, will be on the trot to make it two-in-a-row when the day/night Lahore Summer Meeting gets underway at the Racecourse on Sunday evening.

She is contesting in the supporting event, the Mirpur Plate Class V Division II, which has a few good sprinters.

The good looking daughter of Dubai Edition out-of-Counters, the Grey filly, Secret Memories, won her career’s first race last Tuesday in the over 900 metres distance.

She is a classic filly in the making as her style of running shows and should have no difficulty to have the better of her seven rivals. Al Ain, Arzoo and Brave Heart should fight for the places. This will be the fifth race of the day.

In the main and sixth event, the Malir Plate, a class five and four combined handicap race, there are nine runners barring last-minute withdrawals. Three of them seem to be on chance, namely, Tropical, Hallow Dancer and War Admiral. If nothing goes wrong, Tropical should claim the event.

Three-year-old filly Royal Gesture, who was beaten to second place by Shock Wave, should make amends and win the fourth race, the Murree Plate, Class VI Division I.

The field has some good sprinters but not of Royal Gesture’s calibre. She, however, will have Love Minister, Rough Tough and Naseeb Apna Apna on her side to the way of victory enclosure.

Tree Of Life, Little Love, Jewna and Murad The Great are top contenders in the third race, the Murree Plate Class VI Division II.

They should fight for picking up the spoils in this race.

The colt Tree Of Life is inflicted with some abdominal trouble since long, hence not putting up true performance. He is capable of upsetting all calculations. In case of his failure Jewna has every chance.

The first two races mostly comprise out of form and unreliable horses, some times putting up astonishing performance and at other totally reverse of that.

Such horses are allowed to run because there is greater need of entries to make at least six races a day. They are not at all betting proposition.

Basat Mayla and Chocolate Boy are the two form horses in the opener. The former won a race recently while the later ran very badly after winning a race.

Lahore Race Club stewards took a serious view of his in and out performance and reprimanded connections for this bad show. Let’s see how he fares on Sunday. Malang Aya and Yard Arm are the other two with less form.

First Dream, Free Hit and Black King are consistently seen occupying the frame regularly. The first named was slow on previous start and should make amends this time and win the second race of the day.

However, Free Hit and Black King will be there to give a good fight.

A card of six events will be decided today. The first four races will be contested over 1,000 metres each and the last two over 1,100 metres.

The first race will be held at 5.30pm.
