PESHAWAR, July 20: Pakis-tan Muslim League-N president Mian Shahbaz Sharif has welcomed the Prime Minister’s statement about reinstatement of the deposed judges.

“We will participate in the meeting of coalition parties convened by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and give suggestions,” he said.

Talking to the media at the residence of federal minister Haji Ghulam Ahmed Bilour where he had come to offer condolences on the death of his mother, he said the meeting of the ruling coalition parties was a welcome development to discuss strategy to stem the tide of militancy in Fata and the NWFP and take measures to strengthen the federation.

Mr Sharif said the coalition partners would attend the meeting and give proposals about ending the unrest.

Reiterating his party’s commitment to reinstatement of the judges, he said the PML-N would not budge an inch from its “principled stand”.

Musharraf’s step to suspend judges was against the Constitution and the PML-N would not rest until the judges were reinstated, he said.

He said he was confident that all issues facing the country could be resolved through mutual understanding.

He said that dictatorship had destroyed the country and it was now for the democratically-elected government to put things in order.

Mr Sharif said that parties in the ruling coalition parties had the mandate to run the country’s affairs in line with people’s aspirations and solve their problems, including price-hike, law and order and unemployment.

He said the PML-N under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif would support the lawyers’ struggle for restoration of the judges.
