Picnicker kidnapped

THATTA, July 20: A gang of highwaymen kidnapped a resident of Karachi and looted cash, mobile phones and valuable belongings from travellers on the National Highway near Keenjhar Lake late on Sunday night.

Reports said that 12 armed men blocked the highway, looted travellers and then kidnapped one Fareed Ahmed of Karachi’s Drigh Colony.

Acting DPO Fida Hussain Mastoi reached the place and went after the kidnappers with the help of sniffer dogs.

Meanwhile, a picnicker drowned in Keenjhar Lake on Sunday. Akbar, son of Babar, of Korangi, Karachi, was enjoying a swim in the lake with his family when he drifted into deep waters and drowned.

The body was found and handed over to relatives.
