DADU, July 22: The district council members have rejected the budget passed by the Sindh chief minister using his executive powers a few days ago, and passed a new budget of Rs3.1 billion presented by Zila Nazim Karim Ali Jatoi here on Tuesday.

The district council’s meeting was chaired by Naib Nazim Syed Hussain Shah.

The district nazim said that Rs700 million was allocated for Annual Development Programme, which included Rs650 million for ongoing schemes and Rs140 million for new schemes.

Zila Nazim said that Rs200 million was allocated for construction of district council building, Rs1 million for tours of council members, Rs500 million for expenses of district nazim secretariat, Rs150 million for DCO secretariat, Rs20 million for hepatitis, Rs2 million for each council member for carrying out development works in their respective areas.

The district nazim said that a show cause notice would be issued to DCO Mukhtiar Soomro as he had tried to undermine the district government authority.

He said the DCO was informed that July 14 had been fixed to present the district government’s budget, but he got passed the budget from Sindh government through executive powers of the chief minister on July 12.

Dadu Ittehad Panel member Abid Hussain Lakhair said that the PPP leaders were not adopting a democratic approach and got passed the district government budget from Sindh chief minister through executive order.
