LAHORE, July 23: LPG supplies to all parts of the country will be ensured at reasonable prices, said LPG Association of Pakistan - a grouping of licenced liquefied petroleum gas marketing companies – following its meeting here on Wednesday. “Our specific issues with the City District Government Lahore stand resolved and we have reaffirmed our collective commitment towards ensuring availability of the product across Pakistan,” said LPGAP spokesman Fasih Ahmed.

“We are grateful for the timely response of the federal government and the Oil & Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) to the concerns of the LPG industry,” he said.

LPGAP had suspended 32 per cent supplies to Lahore on Monday in protest against what it called the “heavy handedness” of the CDGL. The federal government and Ogra intervened at the behest of the association and resolved the matter.

“We are also asking the government to re-initiate the stalled projects that can greatly increase local LPG production,” said Ahmed.

“There is a disparity between the increasing demand and the diminishing supply that needs to be addressed,” he said, adding that at least one LPG producer was likely to import the product for sale at prevalent prices to ease supply side pressure. LPGAP has formed an autogas committee to liaise with the government and the regulator for the expeditious implementation of LPG autogas stations in Pakistan and the sustainable development of this market segment.
