ATTOCK, July 23: Punjab is providing 9,800 tons of wheat flour (atta) to Frontier and Balochistan daily.

“Punjab is not only struggling to meet its own demands for atta but also helping the two other provinces by providing them the commodity as per their quota for the last one-and-a half months”, said the Provincial food minister Malik Nadeem Kamran while talking to the local journalists at the District Coordination Officer (DCO) office here on Wednesday.

Besides government officials, PPP and PML-N activists, MPA Malik Shahan Khan and District Police Officer Mohammad Wisal Fakhar Sultan were also present on the occasion. Describing the purpose of his visit to Attock, he said some days ago, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif held a high-level meeting and issued direction to strictly check atta and wheat smuggling from Punjab to NWFP and Balochistan.He said earlier, he visited Mianwali, Leyyah and Rawalpindi districts. He will also visit Rahimyar Khan, Sadiqabad and Dera Ghazi Khan in this regard.— Correspondent
