RAWALPINDI, July 25: A student was shot and injured in a robbery attempt, while four vehicles were taken away by thieves from different parts of the city on Friday, police said.

Khurram Shahzad, 18, was heading home along with his three friends after attending a wedding ceremony when four robbers intercepted them at Dhoke Hassu after midnight. The robbers demanded cash from them but when Khurram refused to hand it over, one of them shot him.

On seeing the injured boy screaming and the police coming towards them, the robbers escaped from the scene, however, one of them was captured by the police.

Khurram was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital where he is stated to be in stable condition. A hunt has been launched to arrest the other robbers.
