GUJRANWALA, July 25: The Crimes Investigation Agency (CIA) claimed on Friday to have busted a two-membersgang involved in preparing and issuing fake educational certificates and seized a number of fake matriculation, intermediate and graduation certificates and a computer from their possession.

CIA SP Ali Mohsin told reporters that Hafiz Ahmed and Shakeel were issuing fake certificates to customers after changing their dates of birth on computer.

He said a police team consisting of Inspector Sajid Nazir and Inspector Arif Khan raided their office and caught them receiving Rs4,000 from a customer to issue him a fake certificate.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education’s examination controller confirmed that certificates issued by the gang were forged.

The two brother had in their various letterheads including the one bearing the signatures of deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhmmad Chaudhry.

During interrogation, they admitted that their father was also running the same business of issuing fake degrees.

The Civil Lines police have registered a case and were conducting raids to arrest their accomplices.
