PARACHINAR, July 27: Armed men in Afghanistan kidnapped six Turi tribesmen who were going from Peshawar to Parachinar via Kabul because of the blockade of the road to Kurram tribal region.
According to sources, the tribesmen have been moved to an unspecified place.
However, Allied and Afghan forces reportedly have besieged the Said Karam area in Paktia province to trace the captives.
The main road from Peshawar to Parachinar was blocked in November last year, forcing people of upper and lower Kurram to use the Afghan route.
Another 15 Turi tribesmen had been captured in Afghanistan last month but they were immediately rescued by the Afghan National Army.
The road blockade has caused an acute shortage of medicines, food items and other commodities in Parachinar and other areas of the agency.
Meanwhile, three people were injured in clashes between Mangal and Turi tribesmen in Upper Kurram on Sunday. Sources said that the clashes erupted in Tari Mangal and Piwar areas on Saturday and the two sides used heavy weapons.
In another incident, a man was killed and another was injured in Bushara village near Parachinar on Saturday night.
