PESHAWAR, July 30: Punjab Governor Salman Taseer on Wednesday rejected the possibility of governor’s rule in Punjab saying that the existing set-up in the province should not be disturbed even if the ruling PML-N withdraw its support from the coalition in the centre.

Mr Taseer, who came to Peshawar to offer condolences on death of the mother of Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, said that he never created hurdles for the Punjab government and would wish to work with the PML-N government in the province.

“No body should talk about governor rule in Punjab, we want the democratic set up must continue with success, I am hopeful that PPP and PML-N would remove their differences and evolve a joint strategy to solve the issues,” Mr Taseer remarked while taking to media at the Bilour House.

The issues, the governor said, were not so complicated that could not be resolved and he was very much hopeful that both the major parties would solve it amicably. The coalition government was training for the political parties so the practice and training should be continued to develop new political culture in the country, he added.

Replying to a question, Mr Taseer said: “If the PML-N gets itself out of the coalition at the centre even then there should be no reaction from the centre and the existing set-up in Punjab must not be disturbed.”

He said the PPP was in a position to form government in Punjab but it provided the PML-N the chance to rule the province similarly there would be no difficulty in future if the PML-N continued ruling.

The governor said that he would take up serious issues both with Punjab and federal governments and the ban on transportation of wheat from Punjab to NWFP was on the top of his list.—PPI
