HYDERABAD, Aug 3: Hyderabad DCO Ali Ahmed Loond has declared emergency in the city’s civic bodies and cancelled leave of the employees of Hyderabad Development Authority (HDA) and Water and Sanitation Agency (Wasa).

Chairing a meeting of HDA and Wasa officials on Saturday, the DCO asked the employees to be present in the field round the clock with adequate machinery to ensure rainwater was drained out from flooded streets and roads.

He visited Qasimabad, Sheedi village, Latifabad unit-9, Effendi Town, Gulistan-i-Sajjad, Deplai Colony and other areas and asked TMA officials to keep their staff present in the affected areas.

He asked Hesco officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity. An official of the meteorological department informed the DCO that 45 mm of rain was recorded last night in Latifabad taluka, 30 mm in Qasimabad and 16 mm in the city, taluka and Hyderabad rural.

He directed Wasa officials to remain in touch with meteorological office for weather updates and then make arrangements accordingly for water drainage.
