HYDERABAD, Aug 7: The Hyderabad district government has completed 1,300 development schemes in different union councils without any discrimination, says the district nazim on Wednesday.
Kanwar Naveed Jamil was inaugurating development schemes in union council No.4 in Latifabad taluka.
“It is an irony that Hyderabad used to be the third most important and biggest metropolis of the country which is inhabited by sons and daughters of those who created Pakistan, but due to indifferent attitude of the rulers, this historic city was ruined,” Mr Jamil said.
He said all roads were destroyed, water and sewerage system had collapsed, parks and playgrounds were ruined and encroached upon, the boundary walls of graveyards had collapsed and graves were desecrated by the stray animals.
He said now even the strongest detractors of the Haq Parast leadership could not constrain themselves from giving credit to the district government that it had carried out record development works in the city and resolved all the basic problems of the people.
The district government, he said, had completed 1,300 small and big development schemes at costs ranging between Rs1 million and Rs500 million. He said in UC-4, six parks were constructed and all roads were constructed with asphalt concrete.
He said due to the development schemes value of properties had greatly appreciated.
Since 1985, he said, no space was available in Hyderabad Site for setting up any factory but due to efforts of the district government 300 acres of land was acquired in the Site for industrialisation.
