HYDERABAD, Aug 8: District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has said that construction of six district government hospitals and a trauma centre is nearing completion, adding that the hospitals will provide free medical care to the people.
He said within its limited resources, the district government was providing free medical facilities to patients of hepatitis, diabetes, breast cancer and kidney ailments etc. He said this while attending a briefing about the progress in the construction of hospitals at his secretariat.
He said the government hospitals were actually meant for treatment of poor people as the rich always preferred private hospitals which were beyond the reach of the common man.
The district government was, therefore, providing free medical treatment in its hospitals to poor patients suffering from diseases like hepatitis, diabetes, breast cancer as well as dialysis facilities, he said.
He regretted that any doctor, who was sent for training in his special field, was transferred soon after the completion of his training. He said such a trained doctor should not be transferred at least for two years unless his place was taken by another trained doctor.
This was extremely important to continue uninterrupted medical treatment of the poor patients, the district nazim said.
He directed the district officer roads to improve the quality of work of the trauma centre road.
He said diabetes centres had been established in all district government hospitals and advised private medical practitioners, general hospitals and maternity homes to refer diabetes patients to these centres for free medical treatment.
He directed that a detailed list of deficient staffs should be furnished to the district government and wherever necessary such staff should be appointed.
For the screening of schoolchildren for hepatitis, the district nazim directed the health and education officers to evolve a joint strategy.
He also directed the UC nazims to prepare a schedule on daily basis for the fumigation of different areas to eliminate mosquitoes.Dr Ahmed Hyder gave a detailed briefing to the district nazim and the participants of the meeting about the performance of different hospitals, availability of staff and financial matters.
Hyderabad DCO Ali Ahmed, district health committee chairman Dr Arif Razmi, EDO health Dr Bux Ali Pitafi, DDO health Dr Ahmed Hyder, former Director General of Health of Sindh Dr Fateh Mohammad Khan, a number of UC nazims and doctors attended the briefing.
HERITAGE: Hyderabad District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has directed the departments concerned and UC nazims to ensure that the beauty of historical sites of Hyderabad should be preserved in its original shape.
He issued these instructions during the inspection of historic Holmstead Hall.
He said Holmstead Hall should be renovated and its original shape should be preserved and only the Hasrat Mohani Library should be maintained in the hall.
All unnecessary structures in the hall should be removed to create more space for readers and more books should be purchased for the library, he said that a computerised record of all books should be maintained.
He said the handicraft centre and the UC nazim office should be shifted to some other place and proper attention should be paid for the maintenance of garden of the historic building.
He also inspected the old and dilapidated buildings of street No.4 and 5 of the famous Pakka Qilla.
District works committee chairman Munawar Khanzai, district education committee chairman Q.Mohammad Hakim, deputy project director of HDP Abdul Haleem Ghori and other officials of the district government were also present on the occasion.
