KARACHI, Aug 12: Sindh Information Minister Shazia Marri told reporters outside the Sindh Assembly building after Tuesday’s session that the resolution demanding President Pervez Musharraf’s impeachment would be moved during Wednesday’s session, even though it was not in the order of the day.

As for the MQM’s line of action, she hoped the Pakistan People’s Party’s coalition partner in the provincial government would support the resolution.

“They are part of the government. We hope that the MQM will help us in this move against dictatorship,” the minister said.

“It is a matter of pride for us to bring a resolution against a dictator,” she added. Ms Marri said that rules of procedure could be relaxed in order for the resolution to be moved.

When asked what the likely numbers would be in case the resolution was put to the vote, Ms Marri said she couldn’t comment as nothing was final. “We’re waiting for an announcement from the MQM, which should be coming soon,” she added.

The information minister also told the media that some opposition members were also expected to vote in favour of the impeachment resolution.
