DERA ISMAIL KHAN, Aug 12: Fear gripped the city when three more persons were killed here on Tuesday.

In first incident, Abdul Ghafoor son of Mohammad Afzal was killed by unidentified motorcyclists. He succumbed to his injuries on his way to the hospital.

It may be mentioned here that it was the fourth incident of its kind in the last two days. Two months earlier 25 people were killed in sectarian violence in Dera Ismail Khan.

In another incident a shopkeeper and his helper were killed when they were on their way home after closing their businesses.

Wazir Hussain Afridi, the owner of Afridi Warranty Center, and his servant Shahid Iqbal were on their way home when two unidentified armed motorcyclists opened fire on them, killing Shahid Iqbal on the spot while Wazir Hussain succumbed to his injuries at district headquarters hospital.

The incident stirred fright and terror among the business community of the city.

Police imposed ban on pillion ridding after the fresh incidents of violence and registered FIR under terrorism act against unidentified assailants. Police also conducted raids on the hideouts of the defunct organisations however nobody was arrested in connection with the gory incident of terrorism.

To protest the killings traders and shopkeepers observed complete. The strike call was given by the Rajput community, Anjuman-i-Tajaran and Khatam-i-Nabowat.

A procession was also taken out from Masjid Kamishnary Bazaar which was led by Jamil Ahmed, Raja Shaukat Ali, Mohammad Ramazan, Taj Mohammad Taj, Ahmed Ali Rajput, Jan Mohammad and Mohammad Mujahid. The procession dispersed peacefully at Rescue 15 Chowk. Heavy contingent of police deployed on the occasion.

Addressing the protesters, traders’ leaders severely criticised police for their failure to control law and order situation in the city. They said that business activities were greatly affected by the acts of violence. They also slammed the government for not compensating the families of the killed persons.

Meanwhile, a son killed his father on Monday over a domestic dispute, sources said.

The incident happened on the jurisdiction of Saddar police station in the vicinity of Basharat area where Hussain killed his father after beating him to death over some domestic dispute. He managed to escape after the incident.
