PARACHINAR, Aug 12: Thirty-five people were killed and 50 others were injured in fierce clashes between two tribes in Kurram tribal region on Tuesday.

Sources said the death toll from six days of fighting had increased to 80 and violence spilled over to Balishkhel, Khwar Kalley, Sangeena and Sadda after miscreants fired missiles on a place of worship of a religious sect in Sadda.

Tuesday’s clashes were reported from Bagzai, Mardkhel, Gala, Balishkhel and Khwar Kellay areas of Lower Kurrum.

The rival Toori and Mangal tribes were using missiles, mortars, rockets and automatic weapons in the Pewar area of the agency.

Tribal elders and Ulema have called upon provincial and federal governments to intervene instead of remaining a silent spectator.
