KHAIRPUR, Aug 13: Veeho Wah in Faiz Ganj taluka developed a 20-foot breach near RD-71 on Wednesday, inundating about 15 mud-thatched houses and standing crops of cotton and sugarcane on many acres of land.

The villagers blamed recent monsoon rains for the brteach, which they said had weakened the embankments of the canals. They, however, managed to plug the breach by the evening.

DEMO: More than 30 employees of Ranipur Sugar Mills staged a demonstration near the mills on Wednesday in protest against the mills administration.

The protesters led by Sudheer Chakrani and Arab Mallah raised slogans against the administration, accusing it of failing to fulfil their demands. They said that administration was doing injustice with employees.

They ended the protest after the district administration assured them of helping solve their problems.
